Pterygoplichthys spp., a species of armored catfish from South America, once sought after for aquariums, has now become an invasive species in numerous tropical and subtropical locations worldwide. Potential negative effects on native fauna may arise from the depletion of basal resources, such as periphyton and detritus, by the activity of these ecosystem engineers. Guatemala's Usumacinta River Basin, with its now-widespread and locally abundant Pterygoplichthys species, was the setting for our investigation into the trophic ecology of the region's fishes. To assess the potential effect of Pterygoplichthys on the trophic dynamics of six native fish species – Astyanax aeneus, Dorosoma petenense, Thorichthys pasionis, Oscura heterospila, Poecilia mexicana, and Gambusia sexradiata – feeding at a comparable trophic level, we analyzed the stable isotopes (¹³C, ¹⁵N) present in their tissues and the basal resources they consume. Research on the La Pasion (LPR; high invasion) and San Pedro (SPR; low invasion) rivers was carried out during the dry season. Our study compared the isotopic spaces utilized by native fish and Pterygoplichthys, calculated the amount of isotopic overlap, and examined the trophic displacement affecting native fish populations. Our evaluation also encompassed the relationships between environmental conditions, specifically the relative biomass of the invasive catfish, and their corresponding carbon-13 and nitrogen-15 isotopic compositions. The catfish in LPR displayed a lesser isotopic overlap with native species, with the sole exception of P. mexicana. The isotopic spaces of native fish in the LPR experienced a compression and upward migration towards higher trophic levels in comparison to the SPR. Riverbed food resources were crucial for Pterygoplichthys in both rivers, whereas water-column resources displayed greater relative significance for the native species found in LPR. Native fish whose 13C isotope levels were measured, displayed a significant connection to Pterygoplichthys abundance, water conductivity, and water velocity; conversely, the 15N levels of the native fish were notably connected to water depth and sediment accumulation. Prolonged field studies and mesocosm experiments, encompassing fish community shifts and environmental fluctuations, could offer insights into the effects of Pterygoplichthys, potentially revealing impacts from reduced food availability or habitat modifications.

A database of structural enzyme models, TopEnzyme, is constructed using TopModel. It is intricately linked to SWISS-MODEL and the AlphaFold Protein Structure Database, thus creating a panoramic view of structural coverage within over 200,000 enzyme models, encompassing the functional enzyme space. Sixty percent of all known enzyme functions can be quickly modeled structurally for the user's benefit.
We employed TopScore to evaluate the models, producing 9039 structures of good quality and 1297 exhibiting high quality. A further examination of these models alongside AlphaFold2 models, evaluated through the TopScore method, exhibited an average difference of only 0.004 in favor of AlphaFold2's TopScore. We applied TopModel and AlphaFold2 to targets excluded from their respective training databases, observing that both models generated comparable structural depictions. In cases where experimental structures are unavailable, this database will facilitate prompt access to structural models across the most comprehensive functional enzyme representation within Swiss-Prot.

From the narratives of eight individuals, two major themes emerged: 'Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder as a domineering authority figure' and 'OCD's ability to both bond and estrange in relationships'.
